A boat carrying the Buliisa FC team and its fan capsized in the Lake Albert, Uganda. According to police almost 30 people have drowned in the incident as the boat became unbalanced due to overloading. There were reported to be 45 people total on the boat.
9 dead bodies have been recovered at time of report and 15 people have been rescued, some of those in critical condition.
These type of incidents are said to be common in Africa especially on Lake Albert. Vessels are often packed with too many people and goods and in a poor state. Police commander John Rutagira told media that the passengers that embarked on the boat were drunk at that time.
