Calgary Foothills FC start preparing for 2017 seasons in both (UWS) Women’s and (PDL) Men’s

It’s that time of year again!

Calgary Foothills FC start their preparations for their men’s program after a very successful season in the PDL last year. A cinderella story that almost seemed destined to happen. The work ethic, the chemistry was there from the first whistle and carried on until the referee decided to hand Michigan Bucks a penalty late in the PDL National Final.  With some key returnees and the addition of TSS Rovers out of Vancouver, BC, this season is sure to be exciting. Game location seems to be a bit of a toss up still with the Calgary Soccer Center (only grass pitch there) looking like the best options until their very own facility is completed.

We Caught up with Technical Director and Head Coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. and he setup up 2017 for us. Very exciting things for the Club this year!

We also chatted with Ladies Program Director and Head Coach Troye Flannery about their 2016 season with the WFC team and more recently, what it means for Foothills to now be able to provide a pathway directly to the highest level of Women’s soccer in Canada! With tryouts looming, it becomes a tough task finding the right key pieces to fill gaps and solidify their squad.  Calgary Foothills intends to be very competitive in their quest to solidify their name as a soccer Powerhouse in Canada!

2017 is shaping itself to be a historical year for foothills FC! Stay tuned and watch. Alberta produces better soccer players than what everybody expects
